Privacy and personalization go hand in hand so that everyone benefits from the Web without anyone's rights and privacy. This site makes extensive use of personalization in order to demonstrate the capabilities of the Coravue software.
Information gathered and tracked
We collect several types of information while people use our Web site, some of which is tied directly to their profile record, while other information is deliberately not connected to their profile. In the case of profile information, only provided by the individual, or observed through standard Web server tracking, are collected and stored.
While it is possible to merge externally obtained information with data collected at our Web site using standard merge/perge techniques, the personal data on our Web server contains only data obtained during an individual's visit to our Web site.
In addition to collecting profile information provided by each inividual, we also use standard Web traffic analysis techniques on aggregated data based on Web server logs. This includes such calculations as correlatting the number of hits and average viewing time of a page with average interest profile information, etc.
This summary information enables us to better tailor our content to each reader's needs and to help our advertisers better understand the demographics of our audience.
We gather user information in the following processes:
Optional registration
We provide voluntary registration to users for several of the personalized demonstrations and services available at this site. By registering, users can enter the site without having to log on each time; they gain access to the polling area; and they can take advantage of personalization (the ability to select content according to a user-supplied profile).
E-mail newsletters
We offer a free personalized e-mail newsletter to users that tailors content based on their individual profile. We gather the e-mail addresses of users who voluntarily subscribe. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by following the link provided in every newsletter that points users to the profile management page. Users can also subscribe to the newsletters at the time of registration, or later by returning to the Web site where their ID will automatically be recognized (using a cookie or bookmark).
Data protection
We use reasonable precautions to keep the personal information disclosed to us secure and to disclose such information only to third parties we believe to be responsible. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security or for any actions of any third parties which receive the information. We also link to other sites. We are not responsible for their privacy policies or how they treat information about their users.
